Have yourself a merry little Christmas...

Our tree is all decorated with family ornaments! My favorite part is the tree skirt with all of our monograms. My sister made it when it she was 10 years old!

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!

'tis the lovely season!

Hope everyone is having a great December! It snowed about 3 inches in Saint Louis over the weekend & I am loving it! It is also like 5 degrees here...brrr!

Christmas is right around the corner and I have a lot of shopping done, which is very unlike me. I also started wrapping a few days ago...I love, love, love wrapping presents. Maybe it's because I worked at Williams-Sonoma for 4 years and when things were quiet, I would always volunteer to wrap presents.

I don't necessarily love asking for things, but hey, my mother needs some kind of list!

Here is where I am so far:
-cheetah print pashmina
-new Audrey Hepburn calendar
-down comforters for my twin beds
-black leather gloves (the only leather pair I have right now is BRIGHT orange & I wear an orange pea coat a lot, so I look like a giant gummy bear)
-Baekgaard leather wallet
-black poncho.

What is everyone asking Santa for this year?

XOXO + holiday cheer,

Muff

The most important things in life aren't things, but...

I love jewelry! I usually wear the same watch, rings, necklace and earrings every day, but I buy earrings like it's my job! Even better, my brother's girlfriend makes fabulous earrings with her mother, so I have gotten some good stuff as gifts.

Today I bought a jewelry tree for earrings and I seriously LOVED putting all my earrings on it. So dorky, but it was so fun to get everything out and remember all the pretty things I have yet to wear!

XOXO, m.

To thank or not to thank?

So, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Just a few days!

This brings me to ask...is it cheesy to go around the table and say what we are all individually thankful for? My mom's side does this and it is a bit painful. Most of us say something rehearsed out of awkwardness or if you're one of my brothers, you say something completely ridiculous that hopes to garnish a laugh. We all dread it and are glad when it is over, but my aunts insist.

Is it cheesy? Or should we express our thanks? I wonder how genuine it could be. Is it better just to say it to ourselves or even make a personal list of what we are thankful for?

Who knows. All I am sure of is that this year I am definitely thankful that they are splitting up Breaking Dawn into two movies.

XOXO + a gobble

The Great Gatsby...modern remake?

Ok, so I have to blog about this because it is literally driving me CRAZY. The Great Gatsby (forgive me for not underlining, for I have NO clue how) is my all-time favorite work of literature. It's completely cliched, because just about everyone my age loves this book, but I simply cannot help it. I read it when I was in high school and fell in love.

I heard recent news that there are some movie writers/producers/directors who want to remake the classic film, which was shot in 1974 and starred Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. I am not a huge fan of film adaptations (hello, My Sister's Keeper), but I loved this film. It was phenomenally done.

Which brings me to my rant: LEONARDO DICAPRIO is said to be up for the role of Jay Gatsby, my all-time favorite literary character. I am not on board with this. Don't get me wrong, I get it. Leo is a good actor and has excellent taste in picking roles. But he is NOT Jay Gatsby, nor could he properly portray him. Blake Lively is also reportedly reading for the role of Daisy, which I may be okay with (since it's all up to me, right?)

What is my dream team, you ask? Well, my good friend Braidy and I already it all mapped out.

Tom- Colin Hanks
Daisy- Taylor Swift (with extensive acting lessons!)
and...drum role please...
Jay- James Franco

Thoughts?

XOXO,
MKM

FALLing in LOVE !

I LOVE LOVE LOVE cold weather! It's interesting, because I loathe being cold. But I love dressing for fall/winter.

Here are some other things I am loving right now:
-my fur vest! It's totally faux (Clueless anyone?), but my mom got it for me a few years ago and I am finally ready to wear it!
-Minnetonka beaded moccasins
-fires in fireplaces!
-my brothers coming home for Thanksgiving :)
-Blues hockey games
-my new cheetah print-ish flats that finally went on sale!
-apple cinnamon candles
-peppermint white mochas, but then again, who doesn't?
-Pi pizza! Pat and I have had it twice in the past 2 weeks! My new favorite is deep dish with artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes.

I cannot wait for Thanksgiving at the farm next weekend! My brothers will be home along with my girl cousins. Wishing everyone a happy, happy thanksgiving! XOXO + infinity!

There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven, a time to be born and a time to die a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

Till Whenever Do Us Part...

I recently went on a road trip with my late 70-something grandparents, which was no small fete. It was entertaining and at times insanely fun. On the ride home, my grandmother bought an Elle magazine. She never actually reads the articles, but rather looks at the pictures to "see what's in for the fall". She is fascinated by fashion and trends, and although she has no intention to follow the evolution of fashion, she is enthralled by the feathers, metallics and crazy high heels.

She left the magazine in my car and I read an article tonight on marriage and divorce in America. Rachael Combe's "Til Whenever Do Us Part" made me laugh and cry--it was so beautifully, wittily wonderful.

My favorite line:

"The point of living isn't to be in a perpetual state of fairy-tale ecstasy; it's to find the meaning of life, the meaning of your life."

A runner-up:

"I learned at eight what most people don't know at 48: that even those you love most dearly and depend on most completely are profoundly flawed; that even someone who loves you to the fullest extent of their capacity can hurt and disappoint you more than you imagine possible."

If you have the chance, definitely look this article up--it changed my perspective on SO much!

XOXO always, Muff

Things that I should be ashamed of…but I’m not:

1. I only watch the audition part of American Idol. There is nothing better than watching people who think they are really good at something, but in actuality, they are terrible.

2. I love my job and my parents paid a lot of money for my education, but sometimes I think I would be happy selling ice cream for a living. Hey, free samples.

3. I secretly pray sometimes that no people will come to see me at work and I can just catch up on celebrity gossip on people.com all day.

4. My friends like to say that I have no filter and I don’t think before I say outrageous things…but the truth is, I do think before I speak…and then I speak anyway.

5. I get weirded out by photos of my co-workers’ families on their desks. I do not want to see your granddaughter’s school picture, nor do I care what your nephew’s soccer team looks like.

6. I like corndogs.

7. If I see someone walking towards me at work or in my social life and I don’t want to talk, I turn and walk the other way…without explanation.

college visit

I just visited my brothers at college, what a good day! I really miss them, but it is nice that they are together in the same city. It made me miss college, though! Four years sounded like a long time before my teenage years. Now I cannot believe that I am so old! Life has been good and I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family.

Me with Tina xoxoxo

Last night of summer classes!

Tonight is my last night class for my summer grad school term! So happy to have a few weeks of no classes before I start up again...cannot wait to be finished and have my master's!

Things I am loving now...

Essie "Island Hopping"
my new monogrammed canvas bag
my new Sephora hairbrush
my gold Jack Rogers
watching movies with my sister on weeknights (It's Complicated is our latest!)
Vic's light popcorn
picking flowers from my mom's garden for my bedroom :)
I have been wanting to do something that is completely mindless for awhile now! This seems perfects. I don not expect any of my friends or family members to follow, but it just seems fun. I work at a non-profit agency as a social worker for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. I love my job, but it is very draining! I am also getting my master's in social work and I have about 13 months left before I will be finished. I have three brothers and one sister, two parents, and two adorable Springer Spaniels! I recently moved back home with my parents for awhile...it is definitely a change! I love, love, love my friends!

Looking forward to blogging!

xoxo, Muff

Hello lovies!

My best friend Tiney just started a blog and now I want one!
